Tropical Storm Eta floods Florida mobile home park
(10 Nov 2020) Tropical Storm Eta was squatting off western Cuba on Tuesday after drifting away from South Florida, where it unleashed a deluge that flooded entire neighborhoods and filled some homes with rising water.
Matthew Locicero lives in Driftwood Acres Mobile Park in Davie, Florida. He says he has seen upwards of 18 inches of water around his home.
“I can’t even move my truck because I don’t want the water to damage my truck. If I need to walk my dog I got to pick up the dog and literally carry the dog out of the water just to get her to go out,” said Locicero.
Lazaro Marrero and his family have been without power since Sunday night.
“It’s too hot because the air conditioner is not working because the water is too high, you know, all the night it’s too hot for my baby. I got a baby, 4 years old. That’s a big problem,” said Marrero.
Marrero says his family will be leaving their home today to stay with relatives in Louisiana. They’re not sure when it will be safe to return.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Twitter that Floridians should monitor the storm over the coming days as it movies up the Gulf Coast.
