First Gainesville Roadway Project Funded by Infrastructure Surtax

The first Gainesville road project funded by the half-cent surtax dedicated to improving local infrastructure has begun. A one-mile stretch of North Main Street between 39th and 53rd Avenues is being resurfaced and restriped. Bike lanes in both directions will also be added. The city is branding these capital projects as “Streets, Stations & Strong Foundations.” Alachua County voters approved the surtax in November 2022.
