Tropical Storm Eta was squatting off western Cuba on Tuesday after drifting away from South Florida, where it unleashed a deluge that flooded entire neighborhoods and filled some homes with rising water.
Matthew Locicero lives in Driftwood Acres Mobile Park in Davie, Florida. He says he has seen upwards of 18 inches of water around his home.
“I can’t even move my truck because I don’t want the water to damage my truck. If I need to walk my dog I got to pick up the dog and literally carry the dog out of the water just to get her to go out,” said Locicero.
Lazaro Marrero and his family have been without power since Sunday night.
They’ll be leaving their home Tuesday to stay with relatives in Louisiana, unsure when it will be safe to return.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Twitter that Floridians should monitor the storm over the coming days as it movies up the Gulf Coast.
