Driver Killed After Tanker Truck Falls Off And Explodes
The driver of a petroleum tanker truck died after the vehicle burst in flames after falling off a ramp on Interstate 595 near Davie, Florida, according to officials.
On August 1, 2021, Florida Highway Patrol and Davie Fire Rescue units responded to an accident along the Florida Turnpike.
The motorist was driving westbound when he collided with a concrete wall on the right shoulder and flipped over, according to investigators.
The vehicle, according to officials, went over the retaining wall. Approximately 8,000 gallons of gasoline were put onto the truck, which ignited and detonated.
FHP Lt. Yanko Reyes stated, “He basically slid over onto his roof and caught on fire at that moment.”
The tanker truck was seen emitting dense black smoke and flames. The huge cloud of smoke could be seen from kilometers away,
Officials stated they were still investigating the cause of the accident.
“We don’t know if there was a vehicle fault or if it was a medical incident,” said FHP Lt. Yanko Reyes.
Officials say the 53-year-old motorist was declared dead at the scene.
