Aerial Views Show Firefighters at the Scene of Plane Crash in Clearwater | News9
Firefighters rushed to the scene where a small plane crashed into and demolished a mobile home on Thursday (February 1) in Clearwater, Florida.
Aerial footage from ABC affiliate WFTS showed Clearwater Fire & Rescue vehicles after putting out the fire following their arrival at 7:15 p.m.
WFTS cited Fire Chief Scott Ehlers saying several people were dead and the Federal Aviation Administration saying a single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza V35 crashed into the park after the pilot reported engine failure.
Officials do not yet know how many were on board.
The flight tracking website FlightAware reported a Beechcraft 35 Bonanza departed Vero Beach Regional Airport on the east coast of Florida about an hour before the crash, headed toward the Clearwater Air Park.
Clearwater is a city of about 117,000 people on the Gulf Coast about 24 miles (40 km) west of Tampa.
